Collage artwork 1
Style- Old magazine/ vintage/ black & white
I really like vintage styling especially from the newspaper black & white, it gives me vibe.
The combination on the background using a larger surface cut outs with text gives an extra points to the vintage styling.
Only the hand is not in black & white, gives a contrast and balance to the whole collage.
Collage artwork 2
Style- Crunched Old magazine/ broken pieces/ portrait
The crunched and teared magazines gives a vibe of broken heart/ person.
The collage seems to be a portrait of a person, with different pieces and personalities combined together as one.
There are black & white as well as coloured image, makes it more balance and pleasant to view.

INTRODUCTION TO BASIC COMPOSITION
FOCAL POINT
A key element to any good composition is a strong focal point, as it helps your viewer's eye naturally settle on the important pieces of your design first.
SCALE AND HIERARCHY
Scale is often used to help hierarchy by drawing attention towards and away from certain elements, thus signifying their importance to the communication.
BALANCE THE ELEMENTS
A good technique for mastering asymmetrical balance is to think of each element as having a weight to it.
WHITE SPACE
Mostly known as empty space to balance up the main focus of a composition. Often used strategically can help boost your design's clarity and overall look, helps your design breathe.
RULE OF THIRD
☺ Process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines.
☺ When you position the most important elements of your image at these intersection points, you produce a more natural image.
☺ The rule of this is a way to use composition techniques that are in line with what's naturally pleasing to the eye, creatively use negative space and create conversation between the subject and background.
GOLDEN RATIO
It is a mathematical ratio, commonly found in nature, and when used in design, it fosters organic and natural-looking compositions that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP 2
TOOL BOX
Photoshop provides several tool sets in the Toolbox, and you can expand the tool sets to reveal additional tools.
MARQUEE SELECTION TOOL
Select and Mask
LASSO TOOL
The Lasso Tool allow you to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document.
When you click on the Lasso Tool from the Toolbar, you will see three different tool options:
☺Lasso
☺Polygonal Lasso
☺Magnetic Lasso
The Lasso Tool is great to use with a graphic tablet because it is similar to a pencil.
PEN TOOL
When it comes to actually creating a path from scratch, the pen tool is the most common option. The pen tool is the way that you add these points and the way you drag the tool as you create the points determines how they look.
LAYERING
Layers are different images stacked on top of each other. You can use each layer without affecting another one to make adjustments. Together they form one final image.

INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP 3 : ADJUSTMENT LAYER & FILTERS
The adjustment layers in Photoshop are a group of a super useful, non-destructive image editing tools that add colour and tonal adjustment to your image without permanently changing its pixels. With the adjustment layers, you can edit and discard your adjustment or restore your original image at any time. This will make your workflow in Photoshop more flexible and efficient, and is an absolute must-know.
Basic understanding of Adjustment Layer
![]() |
| Example |
When you add an adjustment layer to your image, a new layer will appear over your image and a properties panel specific to the type of adjustment you select will pop up. The properties panel will allow you to modify your adjustment layer, which in turn will modify your image.
1. Brightness / Contrast
Makes adjustments to the tonal range of your image. The brightness slider is for adjusting the highlights in your image and the contrast slider is for adjusting the shadows in your image.
2. Level
Levels modify the tonal values in an image by adjusting the levels of the shadow, midtowns, and highlights. It's one of the most used tools in the adjustment layer panel, and using just a touch of levels will go a long way in correcting your images.
3. Curves
Curves let you adjust as many points as you want throughout the entire tonal range of your image, and is the most powerful and precise tool for editing the tones in an image.
4. Exposure
Exposure lets you adjust exposure levels with three sliders: Exposure, Offset and Gamma.
Exposure will adjust only the highlights of the image, Offset adjust the mid tones and Gamma will adjust the dark tones only.
5. Selective Colour
The selective colour adjustment layer selectively modifies the amount of a primary colour without modifying the other primary colours in your image.
What Is Filter?
Using filter to edit photos is an essential element of Adobe's graphics editor. There are filters to change colour, add blur or create completely new image effects. Photoshop offers a virtually unlimited variety of filters for this purpose.

Digital collage final review
Working with layers
Adjustment layers & filter
For the rusty background I used Dissolve filter to make it match to the background, looks like I’ve removed the white background like png. I also added Multiply filter to the train tunnel to match with the mountain, looks like the train is coming out from the mountain like a flashback. For what I’ve learnt on Adjustment Layer & filter, It can really play among a same image with different adjustment, turning an ordinary image to a image full of imagination or matching with the mood of the whole artwork.
