IMPORTANT LECTURE:
What Is Research ?
- the systematic and creative investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to established facts and reach new conclusions.
- Increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of stock of knowledge to devise new applications.
- Research is the pursuit of knowledge.
- Student research is self-directed work in which students from all area of study work individually or as part of a team to explore issues of interest to them.
- Students and faculty mentors work together to design and implement a research, scholarly, or creative project and then communicate the results to others.
How should I start?
- Identify your field of interest. You might become curious about more than one topic through your courses, current events, or by reflecting on things that appeal to you. Reading up writings in some current design magazines might help too.
- After you have selected your field of interest/topic, delve into further research about it to establish an area (research problem) where you are interested to conduct research about.
- Write a bit more extensively about the research problem in the form of a statement.
- Formulate a research question that is derived from the research problem.
- I denitrify research objectives that you would like to achieve from conducting this research.

Focus on culture. How it reflects.

Research Topic : Be more specific on the research Topic, only conduct 1 research, for now it consist of a few.
Research Problem : The packaging design reflects on culture. Research regarding to the culture in a multilingual country.
Problem Statement explain sequence :

3.how packaging reflects a culture (maybe the use of a certain font)

in terms of languages- beside of languages what is their thing that reflects the culture
Do not focus too much on consumers remembering the product, main focus is on how the packaging reflects the culture.
Use "Malaysia" instead of "Local" to let reader understand more clearly.

Important info are there but put it in a proper place, by not repeat what is already written in the original paper.
After describe the method of the paper, can straight describe the research, what it is about? What research did they do? It it good to do so?
What is the primary research? Is it necessary to cite other author research. why? Is it part of their research method, make it clear. What do I n=think of this method? is it important to do their primary research.
The resources that were used in this research consist of primarily of ...studies (what kind of studies)
Read articles first then only conclude the critical review. Now the structure and sequence is lost.

Cite the author. Fot the 3rd Critical review on section methodology, elaborate and comment on the fact that the research location is not mentioned. For the survey suggestion I mention, go find out the tool of the survey, is it offline or online. Last to provide a short conclusion of mine about the paper. 4th review- methodology, i said "all sorts of related information are provided" in depth study, clarify in explanation. Also to provide short conclusion of mine about the paper. When combining all tgt, remove the headers and don't write "this text".
Week 9 - 27/10/2022
Research Method : Why is the survey method suitable for my research ? Justify and elaborate more.
Survey Questions : Justify all questions (in italic light color) at the side. Explain about the question & answer.
Can have more writing answers to gather more answers from different consumers perspective
Age range could be higher. Go on a more professional site to gather answers from larger groups
3: Is the packaging design important? Sometimes for example a certain design or limited edition
5: Recognise Malaysian snacks even in a rack of important snacks? Go to an international supermarket to take a picture of Malaysian snacks in a rack full of imported ones, to see if they can recognise them. Place the pic in the survey and ask : can you recognise which are our Malaysian titbits?
6 : Local packaging design or brand name : Do a photo that consists of only brand / only packaging, let people see from the photo. (with question 5, remove question 6)
Include questions towards local culture instead of the designs.

Include your school and which programme in the intro of the survey. Page number please.Include all the images to the docs that are in the survey. Q5: edit out the price tag. Table form for qualitative answer, list out the important ones, summarise the similar answer. Don't edit the question anymore. For our final project, one part we need to do can recommend the design of local packaging design. Can start writing analysis, it takes time to conclude the answers especially qualitative answers.

REFLECTION
EXPERIENCE
Over the course of the module, I have learned a lot both about my topic as well as research methodology and how to do research in general. Before this module, I had never learned and had no experience to conduct a proper research. When I first started Assignment 1, I struggled a lot, the difficulties to start writing the research. After the first tutorial session with Dr.JinChi, she gave a lot of useful tips and guided me through my research topic, with very detailed steps and information. After gaining information from Dr.Jinchi and some extra reading and understanding, the module turned out to be more rewarding than anything! Honestly, I am very grateful for getting to join Dr.Jinchi’s group, she gave a lot of useful comments and guided me through my assignments every week, I couldn’t do it without her efforts.
OBSERVATION
As related to my research topic about packaging design, I had now paid more attention to look at the packaging deigns when in grocery. I will observe the elements and learn about the design. The starting of Assignment 2 for critical review is the most difficult part for me, I don’t think I am very good at observation and summarizing reviews. Dr.Hayati shared the procedure and sequence for writing a critical review and I tried to follow it, it does give me a clear guide to complete the task. As my writing is not very good, my progress is kind of slow compared to other members in the group. Even though that, Dr.Jinchi gives me time to complete my tasks slower than others. After 2 weeks of tutorial, I managed to catch the technique of writing a critical review. I think the most interesting part throughout the module is Assignment 3: collecting data. I did a survey to research my problem, the answers I received are quite interesting and some of it is funny.
FINDINGS
I was very surprised that conducting a research is actually not an easy job. From deciding a topic to conducting a survey. All of the steps are important and not to be missed out. It was also my first time to learn on writing a critical review. I have learned on how to correctly write a critical review with the correct sequence. Conducting a survey with related questions are also a very big gain for my future studies. It was a rewarding and informative class for me.
